Spolights Under Spikemuth Alpha Release!


Hiya! I finally finished a early preview of a visual novel. In fact, it is my first time ever making something like this.  This alpha took around 2 months starting in June all the way to near the end July.  That was the point when I had to learn Ren 'Py and how it works. I will be focusing on the full version of SUS (yes that is what I'm going to call the game name for short don't hate). I will fix any typos and bugs and release those versions, but until then, the story will remain untouched. Main updates are going to be the finish product of SUS.  If the alpha gets good feedback, I'll try to finish it quicker, no promises though! (Because my schedule sucks). Now, on to FAQ, although no one asked any questions (yet...) I think there still might be questions someone would ask so I will answer them here!

Q:  When do you estimate you will finish SUS?

A: Unfortunately, it would probably be finished in mid 2025. I know it's not really ideal, but I do have other things to tend to in 2024. It doesn't mean I stop progress on it entirely. I'll be working on it little by little for whatever free time I have left. My schedule for the next few months is going to be packed. I cannot promise anything yet.

Q: Are the sprites/backgrounds/CGI going to change in the future?

I'm going to have to say a no. The only changes to the images are if I find a better on to replace it with. Otherwise, I'm sorry if the art styles don't really match up. The art/sprite are from google searches and from Pokémon itself. This project is on a zero-dollar budget so there won't be custom sprites or good CGI. 

Q: How can we contact you to report bugs/typos/suggestions?

A: Easy! Just comment on either this blog post or the games comments. I'll provide a discord and an email later on if anyone prefers that instead.

Q: How do I keep in touch when the game is finished, or new update is released?

Phew, hopefully this answers some of your questions, if not, please comment them below, I'll try to respond back to you as soon as possible! With all of that being said though, I hope that you do enjoy this alpha. It is very short, and things are still in beta like some choices. Remember I'm still learning how to code and write professionally, more importantly, know how Marnie talks. (It's a struggle for me) Again, if you have any tips on how to make this visual novel get finished faster, please help me and reach out to me.
